Magic Quilting and Crafting Spray by Faultless

I was introduced to Magic Premium Quilting and Crafting Spray this past June when attending the Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival. Since i am all about fabric spray, i had to stop by their booth and check it out.

For years I have been using another product which I loved. I’m always up for learning new quilting hacks and trying different products. Today i’m sharing my fair unbias assessment of Faultless Magic Quilting and Crafting Spray.

In my option, the first and most important step of quilting is to prepare the fabric BEFORE the first cut is made. There are 2 methods for preparing fabric.

  1. Wash, dry and iron the fabric

    OR

  2. Spray and Steam the fabric

Both methods tighten up the fibers and cause the fabric to shrink.

Since i don’t like the hassle of washing, drying, ironing and oh, yea…trimming all those mangled threads, i opt to spray and steam my fabric instead.

I did notice that Magic Quilting and Crafting Spray shrinks and tightens the fabric better than other products i’ve used. I can’t stress enough the importance of preparing your fabric before you make your first cut.

Using only steam can smooth out those wrinkled folds in the fabric, but not as well as using both Magic Quilting and Crafting Spray and steam. I found it less effort, saved time and the stability of the fabric was so crisp!

I especially loved the crispness of the fabric! It appears more stable, but not overly stiff.

Having the fabric nice and firm sets a quilter up for more accuracy in cutting and piecing. I was impressed.

Magic Quilting and Crafting Spray comes in an aerosol and a trigger pump. I tried them both, like them both. The aerosol had a more consistent mist, but the trigger option was not far behind and hands down much better than the competitor’s.

We all RAN to Sally’s Beauty Supply to purchase a ‘mister spray bottle’ because we could not handle the leaking, squirting, breaking trigger of the other product .

I am happy to report, i did not have that problem with the Magic Quilting and Crafting trigger at all. If i had my choice, it really would be a toss up between the aerosol and the trigger option. However, if i heard a rumor correctly, Faultless may be offering refillable gallons. So, that might push my decision over the edge.

As a longarmer, occasionally i will get a quilt that has a bit of extra fullness. This particular quilt is set on point with bias edges. Based on the skill level of the quilter, i knew i had better be extra careful.

I often use steam to try and absorb some of the fullness by shrinking up the fabric…especially when i know the fabric was not ‘prepared’ to begin with. When there is too much fullness, i also use spray.

I applied the spray and let it soak into the fabric. With a dry iron i crossed my fingers hoping it would iron out flat. In the past, I’ve had to repeat the process. Not this time!

Impressive, huh? I was!

To wrap up my review of Magic Quilting and Crafting Spray by Faultless… I’m switching. Simple as that.

I like both bottle options, I love the fine mist from both options and the trigger is great.

I absolutely love the crispness of the fabric once the spray has been applied and ironed

I like how it tightens the fibers, shrinks the fabric, and absorbs fullness!

I like that it is scent free

Try it! I think you will love it too.

Check with your local quilt shops first! Let them know you are looking for it and want to support them!
