The Scary Woods!
A new pattern release!
This was one of my most fun quilts to design! I worked and reworked and reworked those owls until they appeared sweet and fluffy and just hoot’n cute! The checkerboard trees remind me of the shadows dancing off the trees in the ‘real’ scary woods.
Why call it The Scary Woods when this quilt is not scary at all? Well, it was inspired by a thickly wooded area behind an acre size pond in the backyard of my childhood home. Owls are occasionally seen but rarely heard as their huge wingspan navigated between the trees. And Owl pellets surrounded the base of each. Eeeks!
This is my dad, our then Lucky Boy and I peering into the pond looking at who knows what with the scary woods looming behind us.
When my kids and their 8 cousins were little, they named it The Scary Woods. Always daring each other into some kind of spooky fun. As they got older, this was the perfect place for paintball, fort building and the best darn imaginations!
So I bring to you ‘The Scary Woods’ but through my reflection of those sweet days when the kids were young and it seemed like all they did was play.
Hope you love it as much as I do!!
