Easter Egg Hunt Egg-4
Let’s Scramble another Egg block!
Cutting Instructions
Piecing Instructions
Make the center pinwheels with the 4” light and medium green squares, using the Magic 8 Method
If you are not familiar with the Magic 8 Method, it is a wonderful easy way of creating 8 half square triangles using only 2 fabric squares. Click on the highlighted red link to learn how.
Trim each half square triangle to 1-1/2” and create 3 sets of pinwheels for each egg block…for total of 12 pinwheels. There will be 4 unused half square triangles.
2. Sew the pinwheels together
3. Sew them to the top and bottom of egg fabric (top being the larger of the two green rectangles). Press towards green egg fabric.
4. Just like the previous egg blocks, draw diagonal lines on the top of egg and add the 2-1/2” x 5” background fabric
5. Draw diagonal lines on the 2-1/2” background squares and sew to the bottom of the egg.
6. Using the same instructions in Eggs 1-3, flip, trim and press.
Each egg measures 6-1/2” x 9-1/2”
Embellish
I used more ric rac and 2 stands of matching DMC floss. A dab of Roxanne’s Glue Baste It and then hand stitched the ric rac in place.
Make a total of 4 Egg-4 blocks! It’s getting so eggciting, don’t you think?
The final egg block will be ready on Sunday April 3rd….then a few days later we will finish up the Easter Egg Hunt Quilt with some simple sashing and on to quilting and binding!
